I think we should have such a thread here so anyone can test all the needed functionality and report on the problems you may have. This is especially important taking into consideration the amount of extensions the forum is going to implement.

Test each feature in a separate thread. That way it is easier to track each feature. Put them in the "Forum & Website Discussion" category. Once we go live we can delete/hide those threads.

Well, there is still need for a test/litter category/thread on every forum. So either stick with one thread in this category or create a new category for it (which is overkill at this size of the forum)

That was pretty much the main reason for doing the things the way I did))

It is not only to test new addons on this forum, but to provide any newcomers with the sandbox/playground to become proficient with all the functions and not to litter other categories. As much as Mohjive put it - every forum has such a thread))

That's a bit of a hack. Too easy to forget. Also, when you "quote" a whisper, the person's name isn't in the whisper field.

    EDIT: made post public (calica)

well, yes, to some extent. that's the very reason I try to convince Michael to install "toolbar" addon. Thus it might be possible to avoid plain-messaging at all.

concerning whisper field - the quote plugin doesn't have that functionality. it might be reasonable to ask for it from original author.
and you can always use "whisper back" button on the left side)

However, HTML is now turned off.

    Just a test...

No, I can't see quotes. This is all I can see.

No tag works either. But If I look at the preview everthing seems just fine...weird indeed.

strange... because at this very moment I do see all the quotes formatted correctly
p.s. and my radio button is always selected on BBCode.

I have re-enabled HTML for members; does that make a difference? I can't duplicate your results by disabling HTML for myself.

Strange. I still can't duplicate that behaviour.

We are going to have to disable HTML at some point, though.

Edit: now I've disabled it for moderators; does the same thing happen for them?

Vazub's post is unformatted. But that's the only one. I've had any problems before.

Edit: and my bbcoe isn't formatted either... (in the preview it is though)

Sigh. It's back on for everyone, then. I really don't see the use case for this "feature".

Also, I noticed that html posts weren't formatted as well. Maybe that option is simply useful when you want to disable html output?

But I don't see how it's useful to say "these people can't see formatting". I imagine we'll just turn off HTML completely and suck up that all the old posts don't format properly any more.

Well, that's mostly why I doubted the need for fiddling with BBCode in the first place. It was quite ok the way it was.

No, it wasn't, that's why we changed. You couldn't quote and have other markup around at the same time. The BBCode extension seems to be buggy too, but not destructively.
